This morning I woke and listened a while to Glenn Beck crying doom over Mubaraks stepping down. I recieved an alert from CNN that an 'important statement' was to come from the office of the Egypt president, of course thanks to Beck I had an idea of what was to come. Soon enough another alert came in reassuring Mubarak had decided to step down from the presidency. I turned the television on to CNN to see the people instead crying with joy. I don't know how I feel about this, I find it to be bitter sweet. I don't know how to feel about Mubarak himself, his stepping down and the supposed 70 billion he is said to have in foreign accounts making him the richest man in the world with money that just insults the people of Egypt, US foreign aid and the world itself. No matter your stance, it is agreeable this is a critical time that can become undermined by many factors and groups such as Iran or the Muslim Brotherhood reminiscent of the way things happened with Hamas in Gaza.
But wow what a feeling one has watching these events unfold, 'times are a'changing' and thanks in big part to the internet; our 'increasingly interconnected world' as Biden said.
